Presenter
Presentation Description
This session introduces interior designers and industry partners to the practical role of generative AI in contemporary design practice, with a focus on how these tools can support, not replace, professional judgment. Using real-world design workflows as context, the presentation clarifies the difference between traditional AI and generative AI, then moves quickly into actionable strategies designers can apply immediately, particularly around effective prompting as a new design skill. Attendees will learn how to structure prompts to support ideation, programming narratives, and early concept development using tools such as ChatGPT, while gaining a high-level understanding of visual and data-driven platforms like Midjourney, MNML.ai, and Hypar. The session also addresses design ethics and human oversight, reinforcing the designer’s role as curator, decision-maker, and steward of intent.
By the end of the hour, participants will leave with a clear framework for integrating AI thoughtfully into their workflow, realistic expectations about its capabilities and limitations, and practical techniques they can begin using immediately in professional practice.
